The First Gibson Les Paul Electric Guitar

Before the introduction of the instrument that bears his name, Les Paul was a Grammy award-winning musician who developed multi-track recording and multiple audio effects. Yet it was his work with Gibson on their first solid-body electric guitar that is remembered best today. This particular Goldtop example, dubbed "Number One" by Paul himself, is the original Les Paul. Built circa 1951-52, this museum-worthy artifact shows its age yet is quite well-preserved and is being sold by Paul's son Gene at Christie's Exceptional Sale on October 13 in New York.
