Whether it's a novel, comic, or biography, Hollywood is full of adaptations. Almost every film is based on a story that's already been told. Of course, the book is always better but in some cases, the big-screen portrayal does do it's written predecessor justice. In their latest videos, CineFix breaks down five of those movies.
Directed by Wet Hot American Summer's David Wain, A Futile and Stupid Gesture will follow the twenty-year run of National Lampoon. Will Forte and Domhnall Gleeson will play the publication's co-creators, while Martin Mull narrates as an older Doug Kenney. Also starring Jon Daly, Joel McHale, and John Gemberling, the biopic is set to begin streaming on Netflix January 26, 2018.

Protein bars usually contain as much sugar as a doughnut and have an ingredient list that requires a doctorate to pronounce. RXBARs are different. With no more than eight ingredients, each bar contains real, whole foods and delivers 12g of quality protein without any added sugar. At the core of every bar is a mixture of egg whites, fruits, and nuts — which they print right on the front of the package — and each of their 12 flavors are gluten-, soy-, and dairy-free. Our favorites are Chocolate Sea Salt, Blueberry, and Peanut Butter, but we recommend starting with the best seller pack, which comes with six of their top selling flavors. Keep a few of these in your gym bag, office drawer, and kitchen pantry for when you need a snack and resist the urge to scarf a candy bar.

That was the rationale behind handing CBS the rights to make a Star Wars Holiday Special, which quickly became one of the worst TV airings of all time. This is how the Holiday Special happened, a long time ago, in a universe far, far away.

Miles Morales got bit by a spider. A genetically engineered one. You can probably guess what happens from here — Miles gain spider-like powers and a sweet costume. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse brings Spider-Man's alternate timeline to the big screen, set for a Christmas 2018 release.
Based on Ernest Cline's best-selling novel, the first look at Ready Player One is Spielberg at his best. The sci-fi heavy feature takes us to a dystopian 2045 where the only escape from the depressing reality is a virtual reality — the OASIS. Known for its traditional yet modern look, U-Turn's Orbit Special turntable is becoming a timeless design that needed only minimal enhancements to make it our own. The first thing we did was locate some rift-sawn oak that we ebonized for the turntable's plinth, giving it an extra layer of texture. It's complemented by a mat cut from our signature bison leather, along with powder-coated black tonearm parts, and a custom on/off knob machined especially for this release. Thanks to the built-in pre-amp (no separate receiver or amp required) and pre-installed Ortofon OM 5E cartridge, you can hook it straight up to any pair of powered speakers and start playing, making it ideal if you're just getting into vinyl or just want a no-fuss setup. Also included is a blacked-out cue lever, RCA cables, and a dust cover. Two records courtesy of Vinyl Me Please — Biggie's Ready To Die and The National's Boxer — will be sent separately to help start or add-to your collection.

Buster Keaton, Harrold Lloyd, and Charlie Chaplain — three of the greatest comedians in the history of film. Before film had recorded dialog, these three mastered the art of comedy without saying a word. These three were a huge influence on Jackie Chan, and their styles can be found in his acting and referenced in his films. Bradley Dixon makes a convincing case that Jackie Chan should be included as among the best silent comedians, despite working in the era of the talkies.

Noah Baumbach is one of them. Using the director's latest film The Meyerowitz Stories — following a dysfunctional New York family — Nerdwriter examines how Baumbach has mastered recreating how families actually talk.
