Ulysse Nardin Freak X Watch

The debut of the Freak watch in 2001 took the horology world by storm with its flying carousel movement, hands-free display, and bold design. The latest addition to the line retains some of the Freak's signature features, but the X is the first to add a conventional crown and introduces an entirely new movement. The new heartbeat of the Freak X is a self-winding, baguette-shaped movement called Caliber UN-230 — a fusion of calibers UN-118 and UN-250 — which still doubles as the minute hand with a lightweight silicon balance wheel with nickel flyweights and stabilizing micro-blades. Just like its predecessors, time is indicated by the central bridge to mark minutes, with a wheel in the center of the dial for hours, but the overall design is simpler with fewer wheels making it even easier to read. The 43mm case is smaller than earlier Freaks and is made from titanium with a black DLC/PVD finish, and it's the most affordable Freak to date, coming in at a fraction of the price of previous releases.
