Unopened 1956 Topps Football Wax Box

In 1956, Topps made its first entry into the football card market with a 120-card set. This absolute gem pictured here is one of those original sets, still in the unopened wax packaging. A true survivor, this pack was leftover stock from a small family general story that closed decades ago, and inside are 24 untouched packs of five cards each. The set includes Hall of Famers like Lou Groza, Frank Gifford, and Ollie Matson, with two teams — the Chicago Cardinals and the former Washington Redskins — being picked for the "short-print" run. With only one other unopened 1956 Topps football wax pack known to have been auctioned off in 2007, this is one of the rarest pieces of sports memorabilia on the market.
