Upcycle Motor Garage 1978 BMW R80/7 Motorcycle

Great looks don't necessarily mean great riding, and this custom BMW r80/7 by Austin, Texas-based Upcycle Motor Garage falls firmly into the "motorcycle as art" category. Inspiration for the build came from a pair of 16-inch Firestone tractor tires Upcycle founder Johnny Nguyen had in the shop. A 1978 R80/7 proved to be the perfect pairing for the tires, with Nguyen fabricating a new hardtail cradle frame and retaining just the head tube. A TC Bros. classic springer fork was fitted with a dished 16-inch Harley-Davidson front wheel, with a spoked Excel wheel at the rear. The BMW airhead retains its original Bing carbs and alloy airbox, with a custom exhaust fitted with a Werkes USA muffler. Nguyen's creation is currently up for auction on Bring a Trailer.
