NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory has been keeping a close eye on the sun. Starting on June 2, 2010, SDO has been taking an image of our central star ever 0.75 seconds, accumulating 425 million high-resolution images total. Along the way, they've captured some monumental moments including the most iconic eruption of this solar cycle bursts and Mercury transits across the face of the Sun. To celebrate the mission's ten-year anniversary, the team compiled an hour-long time-lapse where every second equals a day on the sun.
