Despite weather apps' best efforts, you don't always know when it's going to rain. With these packable rain boots from Japanese firm Pokeboo, that doesn't matter as much. They're made from thin, natural rubber with a nylon lining, and pack up into the included carabiner pouch. The nylon collar has a drawstring for a snug fit, while the soles are made from reinforced rubber with textured tread for grip. Our love affair with slow motion just got even more intense. Using inspiration from stop-action photography pioneer Harold Edgerton, the MIT Media Lab Camera Culture group has developed a high-speed camera that can capture 1,000,000,000,000 frames per second, fast enough to capture light in motion. Professor Ramesh Raskar gives the details on the femto-photography technology in this TED talk.
The catalyst for change for runners, the latest edition of the pioneering adidas' Ultraboost 21 features even more energy return than its predecessor. Each pair is built with a Linear Energy Push which provides a 15% increase in forefoot bending stiffness for added responsiveness. There's also more Boost cushioning for added energy return during your run that leads to more energy in all aspects of your life. The Primeknit+ upper offers a more precise knit; 50% of the upper is textile, and 75% of that is made from Primeblue, a recycled material containing at least 50% Parley Ocean Plastic. Available in several colorways, they're finished with a Stretchweb outsole made using Continental rubber.

Swiping, scrolling, and typing doesn't stop when the temperature drops. To keep you connected in the extreme cold, Mujjo upgraded their touchscreen gloves with an extra layer of insulation. The Dutch designer lined the inside with polar fleece for a soft, warm barrier below the already wind-resistant, 3M Thinsulate-laminated triple-layer top. During the redesign, they also reengineered the thumb for added mobility on larger screens and altered the layout of the silicone pattern to give a better grip in rainy conditions. While a few things have changed, the gloves maintain their sleek, minimalist look and accurate touchscreen capabilities with all five fingers.
