If Beale Street Could Talk

Tish and Fonny are in love. For Tish, 19, and Fonny, a 22-year-old sculptor, their love is a refuge from their families and the harsh reality of Harlem in the early 1970s — until Fonny is falsely accused of the rape of a Puerto Rican woman by a racist New York City police officer. Tish finds out she's pregnant and Fonny is in jail for a crime he didn't commit, putting their future and the future of their unborn child on the line. Written and directed by Moonlight's Oscar-winner Barry Jenkins, If Beale Street Could Talk is based on legendary author James Baldwin's 1974 novel of the same name. Starring Kiki Lane and Stephan James, the film comes to theaters November 30, 2018.
