Walter Rohrl's Porsche 924 Carrera GTS Rally Car
Rally legend and Porsche test driver Walter Rohrl received a very special gift from Stuttgart for his 74th birthday — the 924 Carrera GTS rally car he last drove at International ADAC Metz Rally in 1981. Fully restored to its original glory, Rohrl wasted no time in putting it through its paces, tearing through the countryside in proper rally fashion. Production versions of the 924 Carrera GTS were the most expensive and fastest Porsche models ever at the time, going from 0-60 in 5.2 seconds and topping out at 160 MPH. During the course of the restoration, Porsche was able to use nearly all of the original parts, with only wear items like hoses, fittings, and filters needing to be outright replaced. Rohrl drove the 924 to second place in the German Rally Championship in 1981.
