Aged rum and aged bourbon aren't as different as one might think. For its latest annual limited-edition release, Wild Turkey has teamed with Appleton Estate on Master's Keep Voyage. The process began with Appleton Master Blender Dr. Joy Spence selecting casks previously used to age 14-year-old pot still rum that she believed would pair well with bourbon. The casks then made the voyage to Wild Turkey Master Distiller Eddie Russell, who used them to finish a 106-proof expression of 10-year-old bourbon in a Kentucky timber rickhouse. The resulting spirit wears its tropical influence proudly, incorporating flavors of fruits, caramel, aged oak, and spice. Wild Turkey Master's Keep Voyage is available at select retailers now.
