1959 Porsche 718 RSK Center-Seat Spyder

The Porsche 718 went through several different models in its competition history from 1957 to 1962. A further development of the legendary 550A, the 718 would go on to cement Porsche's early racing history, besting cars with larger, more powerful engines from the likes of Ferrari and Aston Martin in some of the world's top races. The 718 RSK would be the ultimate evolution of the model, with a centrally-located seat and controls, and powered by the signature rear-mounted 1.6-liter flat-four. The 1959 718 RSK Spyder pictured here raced in what was then known as the Belgian Congo, Argentina, and across Europe. The car eventually ended up in a garage in Dayton, Ohio, where it was discovered by the current owner in remarkably original condition, with its factory motor, transaxle, and bodywork. Ready for vintage racing events, this Porsche's career is far from over.
