1976 Volvo C303 4×4

The Volvo C303 entered production in 1974 as a transport for the Swedish military. Designed for operating in Europe, the C303 featured a relatively narrow track and short length for navigating twisting forest roads and off-road terrain. Four-wheel-drive and portal axles gave the C303 a massive 15 inches of ground clearance, with power coming from Volvo's B20 125 horsepower inline-six. The boxy steel body is strictly utilitarian, and combined with the C303's go-anywhere off-road prowess, made the vehicle popular with foreign militaries, industrial customers, and rescue services. Nearly 9,000 C303s were made, with nearly three-quarters destined for military service -- making civilian versions like this 1976 model a fairly rare find. Originally purchased by El Paradiso, an Alpine resort in St. Mortiz, Switzerland. The truck sports extra exterior lighting at the front and a Warn winch, with a white-and-grey exterior over red vinyl upholstery. While not exactly everyday practical, this C303 is definitely cap[able.
