1981 Rolex Comex Sea-Dweller 1665 Watch

Comex, short for Compagnie Maritime d'Expertise, was founded in Marseille in 1961 and gave Rolex Sea-Dwellers to its divers for their deep-sea work on offshore platforms. This 1981 reference is one of only 300 Comex 1665s that Rolex reportedly delivered to the company, and it carries that history on its matte black dial, where the Comex logo sits in a white box below the center. Its lume has turned a warm cream, matching the hands. A dive record comes with it: the original owner's dive logbooks, a copy of his Bell diver certificate, and the watch and service papers. Extras include an emergency respiratory unit, a 1985 watch strap calendar branded Houlder Offshore and the Comex comic book, 'North Sea Alert!'
