1988 Porsche 959 SC by Canepa

Bruce Canepa made his name with the Porsche 959 not long after the model's introduction, preparing grey-market examples first for Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen and then founder Bill Gates. Canepa would go on to reimagine Porsche's groundbreaking supercar with upgrades that make it a formidable auto even by modern standards. This 959 began life as one of 207 Komfort models made. Finished in Silver Metallic over gray leather, the car was delivered new to Monte Carlo before going to a private museum in Tokyo and finally coming to the US in 2016. Showing just under 24,000 miles, Canepa began work on the car, completely disassembling it and coating it in paint-to-sample Emerald Green over a Dark Green leather interior. The 2.85-liter flat-six makes 825 horsepower, nearly double the original number, with upgraded internals, Motec engine management, custom Penske dampers, and new cast-magnesium 18-inch hollow-spoke wheels that match the design of the originals. The car goes to auction at RM Sotheby's Miami event in February.
