2022 Tesla Model S Plaid Sedan
Named for a Spaceballs reference, Tesla's new Plaid option for the Model S will push the four-door into hypercar territory. The new flagship will sport a trio of electric motors combining to making 1,020 horsepower, good for a 0-60 time under two seconds, a top speed of 200mph, and a sub-9-second quarter mile. That would give it the quickest 0-60 time and quarter-mile acceleration of any production car, ever. Impressively, all this performance doesn't come at the cost of range, as the Plaid will go more than 520 miles on a single charge, more than any model in the current lineup. A redesigned interior uses a landscape touchscreen and a yoke-style steering wheel, although whether that makes it into the production model remains to be seen. Deliveries are expected to begin in late 2021; pre-orders are open now.
