2024 Lexus GX SUV

Bigger and gloriously blockier, the new Lexus GX mid-size SUV will be coming to North America in early 2024. Built on the same platform as the larger LX, the new GX is just a few inches shorter and shares the LX's heavy-duty suspension, giving it performance to back up the boxy new look. The standard powertrain will be the twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V-6 engine and a 10-speed automatic, shared with the Tundra, Sequoia, and LX600, with a more powerful hybrid model likely coming later. An independent front and solid axle rear suspension with Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System come from the LX, along with adaptive dampers and an electronic locking rear differential and skid plates on the Overtrail. Outside, the GX550 is definitely not like the LX or the preceding GX. The hourglass grille has been toned down to fit an angular design that would make the original Land Cruiser and Defender proud, and puts the G-Wagen on notice. Inside, the interior is much more modern, with extremely clean lines and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The new GX starts production in Japan later in 2023.
