2025 Toyota 4Runner SUV

The current fifth-gen Toyota 4Runner dates back 15 years — and the platform has arguably aged like fine wine. But everything must come to an end, and the 2025 model year will see the introduction of the fifth-gen 4Runner, a successor that looks poised to easily fill the previous model's shoes. Outside, the 4Runner shares a stronger visual connection to the Tacoma than it has in decades, borrowing the pickup's angular front-end look and expanding the look to the 4Runner's SUV proportions. Both trucks share the TGNA-F frame and suspension, with similar drivetrains: the 278 horsepower i-Force 2.4-liter turbo four and the i-Force Max hybrid with 326 horses, both with eight-speed auto transmissions. The interior is nearly identical to the Tacoma, with the truck's instrument cluster, center stack, and switchgear transplanted over. The TRD Pro will be available with Fox adjustable dampers, while the overland/rock crawling-focused Trailhunter comes with ARB/Old Man Emu units. A top-line premium offering comes with the new Platinum trim. The new 4Runner is slated for a fall 2024 release date.
