AKO Electric Trike

Startup AKO has just started development on the second prototype of its electric reverse trike that aims at the European L5e vehicle standard. The product of five years of development, AKO is aiming for over 180 miles of range a unique mechanical leaning feature that helps stability and safety in turns. The final version will house the driver and a rear passenger in a composite shell with a weight of under 1,000 pounds. A 26 kWh battery powers a 140 kW motor, with theoretical speeds of up to 150 MPH — although expect it to be electronically limited to something slightly lower. AKO plans to launch a crowdfunding campaign in Fall 2020 to begin production sometime in 2021.
