Audi Q6 e-tron Prototype
Audi and Porsche's next-gen EV platform has debuted with the Audi Q6 and SQ6 e-tron. Dubbed the Premium Platform Electric, or PPE, the new system will also underpin the upcoming Porsche Macan EV. Designed specifically for EVs, the PPE uses an 800-volt architecture, next-gen electric motors, and a 93.0 kWh battery pack with prismatic-type lithium-ion cells, offering more energy density than current pouch-type cells. The new electric motors are designed for modularity, with direct oil cooling that reduces rare earth elements and offers smoother, quieter operation. In the Q6, the rear motor is the main drive motor, with the front unit on standby for acceleration and traction duties. The PPE platform also offers one-pedal driving, a feature previously unavailable on Audi EVs, with improved regenerative braking and software. The Q6 is rated at 375 horsepower and 482 for the SQ6, with a 0-60 time of under six seconds for the Q6 and 4.5 for the SQ6. A full release of the new Q6 will come later in 2023.
