Teaming up to create a piece fit for the demands of long days on film sets in the most rigorous environments, Barbour and Sir Ridley Scott have made the ultimate director's jacket. Every detail, with direct input from Sir Ridley Scott himself, was carefully thought out. Starting with the pockets, Barbour added an over-sized film script pocket complete with a slot for a pen or pencil, to make last-second adjustments to the script. Multiple pockets were added to hold walkie-talkies which are commonly used on set in remote locations. The black waxed cotton fabric of the jacket is also no accident; the hue and finish were intentionally selected to absorb light to ensure it isn't reflective when working with on-set lighting. This same idea was translated down to the zippers, studs and other hardware; all are military-grade, non-reflective pieces that are commonly used on soldier's garments as to not give away their location. To make the Director's Jacket versatile for multiple environments, the black inner quilted liner is removable and can be worn on its own on milder days. The outer waxed cotton jacket can also be worn alone, and the two can be combined for when temperatures drop below freezing. Intentionally oversized, the jacket is made to accommodate multiple layers underneath for filming in sub-zero locations, or for your common polar vortex sweeping through the city. As a final touch, the back label in both jackets features a bird illustration drawn personally by Sir Ridley, which can also be found on two of the studs on the jacket.
