Bentley Carbon Fiber Wheel

In late 2021, Bentley owners will have a new wheel option across the luxury manufacturers lineup — carbon fiber. Weighing just over 13 pounds each, the new carbon fiber wheels reduce unsprung weight, adding a notable increase to performance and feel. Made using a patented resin transfer molding process, each wheel uses stacks of carbon fiber weave that are heated and then draped over a mold. That is then transferred to a larger mold for the final shape, where resin and hardener are injected and then cured. Bentley claims the wheel deforms better in impact testing, allowing the tire to deflate slowly rather than immediately compared to an alloy wheel, giving a better safety envelope in the event of an accident.
