D1 Milano Impossible Watch
Peter Tarka has worked on design projects for Apple, Nike, and Google. His most recent collaboration is the "Impossible Watch," a 3D concept built with no regard for gravity, thickness, or moving parts that D1 Milano reengineered into something wearable. The dial swaps hands for three rotating discs, one each for hours, minutes, and seconds, with a single dot on each marking the count. Seven dots along the edge track the day of the week, filling in one by one, and a small LCD screen repeats it all in plainer digits. Tarka's original design called for stainless steel, but the prototype came out too heavy, so the case and bracelet were rebuilt in aluminum, cutting the weight in half.
