Deus Ex Machina Beastie Motorcycle
Michael "Woolie" Woolaway is the US Design Director for Deus Ex Machina, and in 2018, he took a custom Ducati Hypermotard SP to the Pikes Peak Hillclimb, where he placed second in the exhibition class. Woolie returned to Pikes Peak in 2019, this time with an evolution of the Ducati he rode in 2018, incorporating all the lessons learned from his first outing. This meant throwing out everything but the front wheel, number plate, and electronics. A Ducati Street Fighter frame replaced the original, along with a magnesium swingarm and various other parts from a Ducati World Superbike racer. A new aluminum fuel tank was built to look like Mark Marquez's Honda MotoGP bike, and the engine was tuned by Mark Sutton. The Beastie makes 180 horsepower while weighing in at just 340 pounds fully loaded — a sure-fire recipe for success.
