Donkervoort D8 GTO-JD70 Sports Car

Founded in 1978 by namesake Joop Donkervoort, Donkervoort has been building small-volume, ultra-lightweight sports cars in the style of the Lotus Seven for forty years. The open-wheel design has been updated as technology has progressed, and has reached its ultimate expression with the D8 GTO-JD70, released in honor of Joop's 70th birthday. Underneath the JD70's long hood is a turbocharged Audi inline-five making 415 horsepower. While 415 horsepower barely raises an eyebrow now, combine that with a total weight of under 1,500 pounds and things getting interesting — as in 0-62 MPH in less than three seconds interesting. This puts the JD70 in the top echelon of supercars, and the handling and braking won't disappoint either. Donkervoort claims over 2gs of later acceleration, and 1.02gs of peak braking force. Deliveries will start in Spring 2020 with orders for the 70 units being made are open now.
