E.C.D. Tesla-Powered Defender SUV
In another British-American collaboration, one of the premier Land Rover restoration specialists in the US, E.C.D., and Britain's Electric Classic Cars are jointly developing a Tesla drivetrain swap for the classic Defender platform. Horsepower figures range from 450 to 600, with the top-end option powering the E.C.D. Defender from 0-60 in about three seconds. A 100 kWh battery provides up to 220 miles of range, with the most important aspect of any Land Rover — offroad performance — getting special attention. Traction control, downhill assist, regenerative braking, and strengthened driveline components will ensure that the Defender lives up to its legendary nameplate. Watch the electric Defender in action in E.C.D.'s announcement trailer.
