Fast Five 1972 De Tomaso Pantera

Midway through the 10-entry Fast & Furious franchise, Fast Five starred one of the more unusual autos outside Japanese and American fare — this 1972 De Tomaso Pantera GTS. The car featured in a train heist scene in which Paul Walker and Vin Diesel steal the car off a moving rail car. The car was spared any damage, and shortly after filming, began having overheating issues. This lead to the car entering storage before being purchased by the current owner in 2013. The car was restored to its on-screen glory, including fixing the overheating problem. The car packs a period-correct 351ci Ford Cleveland V8 Carter 750cfm carb, and Edelbrock intake manifold mated to a ZF five-speed manual. This Pantera was also a limited-edition Hot Wheels car and was pictured on the packaging — although the matching Hot Wheels isn't mentioned as being included in the sale. This Fast Five Pantera goes to auction June 22nd at Barrett-Jackson's Las Vegas event.
