Ford Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 Dragster

The old adage win on Sunday, sell on Monday is largely gone in the modern era of the automobile. The Cobra Jet was a perfect example, a factory drag racer that clubmen teams could buy from the dealer. The concept got a breath of life when Ford announced its Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 factory dragster — an electric-powered behemoth packing 1,400 horsepower and 1,100 lb-ft of torque. That's enough power to run the quarter-mile in the low eights at speeds of around 170 MPH. Instantaneous torque delivery makes EV dragsters especially interesting, and Ford has joined up with AEM EV, Cascadia, MLe Racecars, and Watson Engineering to develop the Cobra Jet.
