Hopium Machina Fuel Cell Sedan
French startup Hopium's first car, the Machina, has started real-world testing. The sedan is powered by a hydrogen fuel cell system, with a lofty range goal of 600 miles on a full tank. For reference, the Toyota Mirai, one of the few fuel cell vehicles on the market, can travel 400 miles between fillups. The Machina makes 500 horsepower, with a high-pressure tank running longitudinally down the center of the chassis with a laterally-mount smaller tank over the rear wheels. On the outside, the Machina cuts a very handsome figure, with clean lines and a focus on aerodynamics. Hopium is taking reservations now, with a production target of 2025.
