Icon Electric 1966 Fiat 500 Giardinetta Coupe

Icon has recently started to retrofit classic cars with electric powertrains, and their latest transformation is a classic 1966 Fiat 500. One of the original European city cars, the 500 was produced in a single generation from 1957 to 1975. In collaboration with EV specialist Stealth EV, Icon's 500 throws out the two-cylinder, 37 horsepower gasoline engine for six Tesla battery cells, an Orion battery management system, and an AC35 electric motor. This setup is good for about 80 horsepower, 100 lb-ft of torque, and 120 miles of range — specs that are as good or better than the Fiat 500e, an electric version of the current 500 sold only in California and Oregon.
