The swan-inspired lines of Lazzarini Design Studio's Avanguardia are certainly striking, but they also serve a purpose. The control tower "head" can be lowered by the "neck", transforming into a 16-meter tender. Overall the vessel measures 137 meters long, with room for 60 passengers spread across five decks. Twin fully electric side engines provide primary propulsion, while a central MTU Rolls-Royce engine can help push the massive ship to a speed of 18 knots. Admittedly a styling exercise, the Avanguardia could still become reality with the investment of a dedicated, deep-pocketed sponsor.
