Leica Leitz Phone 2
Is your phone your camera, or your camera your phone? With the Leica Leitz Phone 2, that question is as murky as ever. Designed in Germany by the storied camera makers, it's built around a 1-inch, 47.2-megapixel CMOS image sensor (the largest ever in a smartphone), paired with a 19mm, f/1.9 lens. Via software, it's able to mimic three iconic Leica lenses — the Summilux 28, Summilux 35, and Noctilux 50 — and various film tones. It displays the results on a vivid 6.6-inch OLED display, protected by Gorilla Glass in a silver aluminum case with non-slip knurled edges. Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Mobile Platform helps power the proceedings, joined by a healthy 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. It's available exclusively on SoftBank in Japan for now; an international release has yet to be announced.
