Love Hulten Slagwerk 101 Drum Machine

Part musical instrument, part interactive sculpture, Love Hulten's Slagwerk 101 is a literal take on the drum machine. Custom-built controller boards convert incoming MIDI signals and send them on to an array of electronic solenoids, which then use an attached drumstick to strike the physical instrument. The massive system is divided into eight cubic segments — one each for bass drum, tom, snare, hi-hat, crash cymbal, cowbell/tambourine, clap, and the main controller — that can be arranged as needed based on the stage or desired look.
