In 2016, Nike made our Back to The Future dreams real with the HyperAdapt self-lacing sneaker. Three years later, the footwear brand is taking things to the next level in the form of the Adapt BB. The most-tested piece of footwear Nike has ever released, the Adapt basketball shoe is the first digitally connected shoe that doesn't just measure activity, but can change its shape and fit in real-time. Once you put them on, a custom motor and gear train senses the tension needed and adjusts to keep the foot snug. You can customize the fit further via your smartphone or through a button hidden in the Flyknit upper. This breakthrough customization ability lets players input different settings for pre-game, timeouts, and when the action is at its peak on the court. Nike wants to expand the FitAdapt system outside the court as well, with plans to add the technology to other sports and lifestyle products.
