Rolls-Royce La Rose Noire Droptail

Rolls-Royce unveiled the first of four coachbuilt roadsters commissioned by a single family. The La Rose Noire is inspired by the Black Baccara, a tea rose created in France 25 years ago, with a nearly black shade that becomes a rich, dark red in the light — a favorite of the family's matriarch. True Love, the exterior shade of red, is applied in five coats of lacquer over a secret base coat, with each lacquer coat blended with a different shade of red to create the overall hue. The second color, dubbed Mystery, is used on the 22-inch wheels in a newly developed electroplating process. Under the removable hardtop are 1,603 pieces of Black Sycamore veneer triangles and 503 red veneer pieces representing rose petals, all crafted by hand. Also included is a one-off 43mm Royal Oak Concept Split-Seconds Chronograph GMT Large Date from Audemars Piguet.
