Steve McQueen's Cooper T-56 Formula Junior Race Car

Cars and Hollywood have gone hand-in-hand since the start of the film industry, but no one represented that better than Steve McQueen. McQueen was a fan of anything with wheels and a competent driver in his own right, as evidenced this 1961 Cooper T-56 owned by the actor. Designed and built for the FIA's Formula Junior series, the car was campaigned in-period by the Tyrell team, who would go on to win three F1 World Championships with Sir Jackie Stewart behind the wheel. This T-56 had eight first-place finishes with Tyrell, while McQueen would race it in California — before being forced by Hollywood to choose between acting and driving. The car has been restored to its original spec when raced by Tyrell and McQueen from the ground up and is eligible for historic events around the world.
