1964 Jaguar E-Type Semi-Lightweight Coupe

In the search for automotive perfection, one could easily call it finished at the Series I Jaguar E-Type. Based on the Le Mans-winning D-Type, the E-Type featured a similar chassis construction an 3.8-liter inline-six along with possibly the best styling in the history of the automobile. This 1964 E-Type has been converted to the factory semi-lightweight racing specification, along with a larger 4.2-liter motor making 300 horsepower. Painstakingly researched and built over a period of eight years, the car features alloy body panels made in Britain by Dunford Limited and final paint and prep by Lindley Motors, with final assembly by expert Steve Helms. Details like period-correct Dunlop racing wheels and hubs and other lightweight-specification parts are installed. The is from an XJ6 and was rebuilt with three Weber carbs and is mated to a later 1965 gearbox, along with Wilwood brakes and Spax shocks. Possible the ultimate Jaguar restomod, the car will be auctioned August 18 by Bonhams.
