1980 BMW M1 Procar

When BMW's M1 arrived in 1978 as a result of a stillborn agreement between them and Lamborghini, it was like nothing the German company had made before. Designed by the Giorgetto Giugiaro at Italdesign, the M1 is one of the best examples of '70s and '80s wedge design. The M1 was built to race, and the 1980 M1 Procar pictured here will be auctioned by RM Sotheby's during its online SHIFT Monterey auction. Despite being a purpose-built race car, this M1 is in excellent condition inside and out, from its mid-mounted inline-six to the spartan interior with up-to-date Sparco racing seat and harnesses. If you doubt the condition or ability of this M1, watch this video of it in action around the legendary Spa-Francorchamps track at speed.
