65 years, five owners, and totally unrestored — while it wasn't found in a barn, this 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL meets every other criterion for a barn find. Gooding & Company will be auctioning off this time capsule, which, in an interesting twist, was owned Gooding's own specialist Garth Hammers. The current owner purchased it from Hammers' family after 40 years of ownership, making him incredibly intimate with the car. This 300 SL was special-ordered as a US specification model in Fire Engine Red over a grey leather interior with rare Rudge knock-off wheels and has an incredible patina. With numbers-matching and clean, well-documented history, this is sure to be one of the most desirable 300 SLs on the market.
