The Dalmore Luminary Series No. 2 The Rare Scotch Whisky

The second release in The Dalmore's Luminary Series is fittingly called The Rare. A collaboration between Master Whisky Maker Gregg Glass and Melodie Leung, director of Zaha Hadid Architects, it sees a 49-year-old single malt housed in a custom decanter, surrounded by a flowing copper glass sculpture meant to symbolize the layers of flavor imparted to the spirit during the aging process. The complex drink offers scents of roasted chestnuts and pears before giving way to flavors of Madagascan vanilla and rich berry fruits, with a smoky finish of coffee and almonds. Only three bottles and two sculptures are being made, with only one set available to purchase. It will be sold at auction by Sotheby's in May with proceeds going to support the V&A Dundee museum.
