The Ranch at Rock Creek Montana
At 10 years old, Jim Manley told his father he wanted a horse, a rifle, and a ranch, and it took him roughly 20 years of searching the American West before he found this property, a 6,600-acre former homestead and mining claim between Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks. The Ranch at Rock Creek became the world's first Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star guest ranch, and it's still the only one. Guests choose from lodge rooms, glamping tents along the creek, and private cabins and villas, all within walking distance of the Granite Lodge dining room and the Silver Dollar Saloon. Rates are fully all-inclusive, covering meals, drinks, and more than two dozen guided activities: fly fishing on four miles of private frontage along Rock Creek, horseback riding across the property's meadows and foothills, a weekly summer rodeo in the Camp Roosevelt Arena, and winter access to nearby Discovery Ski Area with lift tickets and transfers included. The resort hosts up to 125 guests at a time across 31 rooms, cabins, and villas, with the same acreage turning over each winter to cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and horse-drawn sleigh rides.
