Harvesting Salt From The Pink Lake

Every year 60,000 metric tons of salt are harvested from the Pink Lake in Senegal on the west coast of Africa. Once connected to the ocean, the lake is saltier than the Dead Sea, with a unique composition from sea salt. Eater went to Senegal to see how the job is done, from getting it out of the lake to adding iodine, cleaning, and packaging.
