2024 BMW X1 M35i xDrive

BMW has finally released the M version of the X1 SUV, with a large bump in power and driving dynamics expected of the badge. The turbo-charged 2.0-liter four gets a substantial increase of 71 horsepower for a total of 312; torque remains unchanged at 295 lb-ft. That's delivered to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with paddle shifters, with a mechanical limited-slip differential on the front axle to improve traction coming out of corners. 0-60 times drop a full second to 5.2 versus the base X1. Handling is improved via Adaptive M Suspension, and pulling the left paddle for one second enables the M Sport Boost Function, putting all the chassis tech into their sportiest modes. Visually, an M grille and more air intakes on the front fascia differentiate it from lesser X1s, and the interior comes trimmed in Alcantara and dark aluminum. The X1 M35i xDrive arrives in October 2023.
