Aboard T4 Hybrid Electric Travel Trailer
Jiangtao Lyu spent over a decade building EVs at BMW, Volkswagen, and Li Auto before founding Aboard, a California trailer company that treats the trailer as a vehicle rather than a box of separate appliances. The T4, its first product, pairs a 41 kWh lithium battery with a 60 kW onboard generator for 200 kWh of total energy, enough to keep it running off-grid for up to seven days without shore power or propane. Its tandem axles carry their own electric motors, which help pull weight on climbs and can even send power back to top off an electric tow vehicle's battery. At 24 feet long and 7,500 pounds GVWR, the T4 sleeps four across two convertible dinettes, with a midship kitchen built around induction cooking and dual powered tailgates that turn the rear into an open-air living space. An app allows for remote leveling, hitching, and climate control.
