Ferrari Luce Electric Sedan
Ferrari's first electric car was designed by Jony Ive, the man behind the iPhone. The result is the Luce, a four-door, five-seat liftback that looks less like a Ferrari than anything the Maranello factory has produced, with comparisons ranging from a Honda Accord to a luxury toaster. Ferrari shares fell nearly 8% the day after the reveal, with analysts citing "design hate" as a primary factor. Former Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo put it plainly: "You risk destroying a myth. At least take the prancing horse off." Whatever criticism the car attracted, the powertrain is not part of it: an electric all-wheel-drive system producing over 1,000 hp, 0-62 in 2.5 seconds, a 192 mph top speed, roughly 300 miles of range, and 350 kW fast charging. The staggered wheel setup runs 23 inches up front and 24 at the rear, the largest ever fitted to a Ferrari road car. An OLED binnacle display and aviation-inspired controls replace the usual screen-heavy interior. It's reportedly already oversubscribed at $640,000, which means the purists are outnumbered, at least among people who can afford one.
