Ferris Bueller's 1985 Modena Spyder California

While it isn't actually the real thing, it did grace the silver screen in one of the most iconic roles in film. This is one of the four "Fauxarri" Spyder Californias made for the 1985 film Ferris Bueller's Day Off and was featured in the driving scene in the film — not the crash scene. A tub-frame chassis was built and covered in fiberglass bodywork mimicking the real 250 GT California the car was based on. Power comes from a fuel-injected 5-liter Ford V8 best known for its service in the Mustang GT of the era, backed by a four-speed automatic transmission. In another bit of Hollywood history, the previous owner was an LA-area plastic surgeon that took the car as partial payment for services. The car goes to auction in March via Bonhams.
