Icon Engineering is bringing back one of the most successful endurance racers ever *212; the Porsche 917K. The 917 also starred alongside Steve McQueen in the 1970 film Le Mans, giving it a presence on and off the track. According to Icon Engineering, their street-legal 917K is 95% accurate to the original, with the only differences being improvements to the crash structure, a steel tube frame versus the original aluminum, and a flat-six in place of ultra-rare flat-twelve. Only 60 917Ks were built, and the engine alone runs in excess of $1.5 million, along with a powerband designed for at-the-limit racing. Icon will be building 60 of their replicas as well, with the first completed one wearing the same white and green livery as the original when it debuted at the Geneva Auto Show.
