Kurt Cobain’s Smells Like Teen Spirit Guitar
Like most musicians, Kurt Cobain owned multiple guitars over the course of his tragically short life. His favorite, however, was this 1969 Fender Competition Mustang. Played on set by Cobain during the filming of the "Smells Like Teen Spirit" video and used during both the Nevermind and In Utero sessions, it comes from the estate of the late Jim Irsay — noted music lover and owner of the Indianapolis Colts — and last sold in 2022 for a cool $4.7 million. It will be up for auction at Christie's New York in March 2026.
