Motsmann Outranger Squaredrop Camper Trailer
The Outranger borrows its shape from two different trailer types at once, the compact footprint of a classic teardrop and the upright, sit-up-straight proportions of a squaredrop. Motsmann Engineering, a new company out of Tigard, Oregon, builds the shell from six molded composite panels on a galvanized steel chassis, wood-free construction meant to sidestep the rot and swelling that eventually catches up with most trailers. Inside, a rear galley runs on a gravity-fed water system that needs no pumps or electricity, just gravity and a drain before winter storage. The cabin sleeps two, and the whole trailer weighs 1,450 pounds dry, light enough to tow behind a crossover or midsize SUV.
