Aurora Car Collection

A collection of 12 rare Ferraris — and two of Mercedes' all-time great cars — will go to auction at RM Sotheby's Villa Erba event in Italy. Spanning seven decades, the collection was put together by an anonymous Swedish collector and none of the cars have been displayed publicly. Headlining the collection is a numbers-matching 1961 250 GT SWB Berlinetta that had a starring role opposite a VW Bug in the 1968 film The Love Bug. Another star of the collection is a 1956 500 TR Spider, the third of 17 built, with an extensive racing history. Mercedes is represented with a 1955 300SL Gullwing in its original silver over a white interior, and a 1956 300 Sc roadster in green with deep brown leather. Two other notable Ferraris are the 365 GTS/4 Daytona Spider and a 2019 Ferrari Monza SP1, one of just 499 made.
