Carpoint GT-K44 Porsche 944 Shooting Brake
In the 1980s, coachbuilder Artz took a handful of Porsche 944s and reshaped them into shooting brakes, a wagon-bodied take on the sports car built for people who wanted both speed and cargo room, a car for a weekend trip to Lake Garda as much as a track day. One of those rare conversions made its way to Andreas Freund, and it stayed on his mind for years, long before he founded Carpoint, a shop that's spent more than four decades restoring classic sports cars and now manufactures roughly 2,000 of its own replacement parts. The GT-K44 is his answer to that old obsession, built alongside designer Michael Söhngen not as a restoration but as Carpoint's own take on the idea. The conversion reshapes a 944's entire roof and rear structure: a new sheet-metal roofline, enlarged rear side windows, and a tailgate that opens the cargo area from above while keeping the fold-down rear seat intact for everyday flexibility. Carpoint is building just 10 examples, each one with a customer-supplied donor vehicle and made entirely to order.
